Unique Student Identifier (USI)

The Australian Government has introduced the Unique Student Identifier (USI); a new way for students who are undertaking Nationally recognised training to find and collate their Vocational Education and Training (VET) achievements in one place.
The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a reference number that is made up of numbers and letters and is unique for each individual student. All training completed from 1 January 2015 will be electronically recorded against a student’s USI.
 It costs nothing to obtain a USI and it stays with the student for life. It provides students with easy access to all their personal training records from all providers and is accessible online. You will need to obtain a USI if you are currently completing any of the following qualifications or accredited courses with Master Builders Australia;

  • Certificate IV qualification or part thereof
  • Diploma qualification of part thereof
  • White Card
  • Safety Working at Heights
  • Fast Track

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the process of formally acknowledging your existing skills and knowledge and measuring them against Unit of Competency.
 The skills and knowledge assessed include formal and informal training programs (through Master Builders SA or any other training organisation), life experience such as involvement in community groups or events, church activities or sport and work experience.
 The advantages of applying for RPL are that you identify where your experience has provided you with the skills required by the Unit of Competency, you may potentially finish your qualification much earlier and therefore attend less days of training and you only attend programs that are new and challenging because you don’t attend programs in which you have proven experience.

To learn more about RPL, please contact a Master Builders SA Training Consultant on 08 8211 7466.
