The building sector is embracing technical and financial challenges to deliver some of the highest standards of excellence, Master Builders SA says.
This year’s Building Excellence Awards – the State’s only celebration of the highest standards of building across the entire sector – broke records for attendance and the number of entries, but Chief Executive Officer Ian Markos said the entries proved that South Australia’s builders and contractors were of the highest standard.
“We are seeing so many bold designs that are pushing construction techniques with their innovation. It is great to see the industry embracing the challenge and delivering buildings that are changing the face of Adelaide,” he said.
“The University of Adelaide’s Health and Medical Sciences Building on North Tce is stunning – and its successful delivery has been recognized in two awards this year, including recognition for Lendlease for Excellence in a Landmark Project and for SA Construct for Excellence in Cladding and Finishes. It shows South Australia’s building professionals are among the best in the country.
“And our residential and housing builders are excelling in what is turning out to be one of the most competitive areas I have seen for years. All of the award winners are to be congratulated for what they have achieved – homes that show a mastery of the craft of building.”
Master Builders SA this year launched its professionals program, with Comace Managing Director Paul Williams being named Certified Construction Professional of the Year and Hansen Yuncken Tower Crane Operator Ross Caddey being named Certified Trade Professional of the Year.
“Both Paul and Ross show they are true construction industry professionals who are committed to the highest standards and who are proud to represent the very best the industry has to offer,” Mr Markos said.
“They are part of a small group of professionals who are driving the industry to achieve more and be better. We are proud to support them and their achievements, and proud to be associated with the CCP and CTP programs.”
