Building better schools a “shot in the arm” for industry

Oct 30, 2017 Building better schools a “shot in the arm” for industry

Master Builders SA strongly supports today’s announcement the Weatherill Government will spend more than $690 million on improving, refurbishing and expanding capacity at 91 schools.

Chief Executive Officer Ian Markos said the Building Better Schools program would be a “shot in the arm” for South Australia’s building and construction industry.

“There is no doubt this is a real ‘shot in the arm’ for our industry. With 91 schools across the State being upgraded, this is a massive and geographically widespread pipeline of work that will ensure hundreds of jobs.

“From Banksia Park to Henley, Blackwood to Salisbury, Port Lincoln to Loxton, industry will benefit.

“Furthermore, investing in high quality learning environments for young South Australians will better prepare them for the jobs of the future.

“This announcement provides an important stimulus to industry whilst at the same time ensuring there is a long-term vision for our state.

“Master Builders SA looks forward to working with the Government to ensure the smooth roll-out of the upgrades.”
